  • What is a general winch?

    A winch is a hauling or lifting device consisting of a rope or chain winding round a horizontal rotating drum, turned typically by a crank or by motor. This training course has been developed to help you understand how to operate a winch safely

    • In order to achieve certification, each Learner must successfully complete a minimum of two pulls appropriate for the winch types and certificate options being assessed. For example, an offset pull using a drum winch and a straight-line pull using a capstan winch.
