  • What is Emergency First Aid at Work +F?

    Emergency First Aid at Work +F qualification is designed for individuals who wish to act as an emergency first aider in their workplace and ideal for those who work or intend to work in an outdoor, forestry, agricultural or remote environment. Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and

    effective first aid in emergency situations including injuries and diseases that could occur in outdoor environments, such as Lyme disease and catastrophic bleeding.

    • Haemostatic agents

  • Venue and Equipment Requirements:
    • Suitable and safe area to complete paperwork
    • Suitable welfare facilities
    • Suitable area for practical demonstrations

    Risk assessment completed

  • Theory Assessment:
    • Theory assessment/multiple choice question papers – there is 1 paper for each Learner and Learners should answer all the questions under ‘examination’ conditions.
    • Guidelines: 
      • The maximum time allowed is 25 minutes. 
      • The minimum mark is 11 out of 15 in order to be considered for an overall ‘Pass’.
    • +F element: Theory assessment/multiple choice question papers – there is 1 paper for each Learner and Learners should answer all the questions under ‘examination’ conditions.
    • Guidelines: 
      • The maximum time allowed is 15 minutes. 
      • The minimum mark is 7 out of 10 to be considered for an overall ‘Pass’.
  • Practical Assessment Criteria
    • Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperwork. 
    • There are 4 mandatory and 1 optional practical assessment for this qualification:
      • CPR and safe use of an AED
      • Choking casualty
      • Unconscious casualty
      • Wounds, bleeding and shock
      • Forestry first aid (+F) (incorporating Catastrophic bleeding and Adder snake bites)

Objective Of Course

The aim of the Lantra Emergency First Aid at Work +F (AID13) course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies in forestry and remote outdoor environments.

Key Course Objectives:
  • Understand the role of the first aider and legal responsibilities
  • Learn how to assess emergency situations and provide safe, effective responses
  • Perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Treat choking, shock, seizures, burns, bleeding, and unconscious casualties
  • Apply forestry-specific +F skills, including:
    • Managing catastrophic bleeding
    • Treating crush injuries
    • Handling hypothermia and environmental exposure
    • Identifying Lyme disease risks
    • Working safely in remote areas
  • Improve confidence in delivering first aid under pressure
  • Understand how to manage workplace emergencies and record incidents

By the end of the course, learners will be competent to deliver emergency first aid in both workplace and demanding outdoor forestry environments.
