What is QA Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF)?
The QA Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF) is
a regulated and nationally recognised qualification
designed for those who have a specific interest or
responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community
activities, to provide basic first aid in emergency
situations. Successful candidates will be equipped with
the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range
of first aid situations, including: CPR, choking, external
bleeding, shock and minor injuries.
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
require all employers to make arrangements to ensure
their employees receive immediate attention if they are
injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a
risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first
aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.
However, having the correct first aid provision in the
workplace is not just a legal requirement, it is incredibly
important for the safety of all members of staff!

Venue and Equipment Requirements:
- Suitable and safe area to complete paperwork
- Suitable welfare facilities
- Suitable area for practical demonstrations

Theory assessment
- Theory assessment/multiple choice question papers – there is 1 paper for each Learner and Learners should answer all the questions under ‘examination’ conditions.
- Guidelines:
- The maximum time for unit 1 is 25 minutes.
- The minimum mark is 11 out of 16 to be considered for an overall ‘Pass’

Practical assessment criteria
- Practical assessments – observed by the Trainer throughout the course, with the results of each learning outcome recorded on the practical assessment paperwork.
- There are 4 mandatory and 1 optional practical assessment for this qualification:
- CPR and safe use of an AED
- Unconscious casualty
- Wounds, bleeding and shock
- Choking casualty
- Optional extra – Catastrophic bleeding

Objective Of Course
The objective of the First Aid Essentials (RQF) – QA Level 2 Award with TUPPCO Training is to equip learners with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to respond confidently to common first aid emergencies in the workplace and everyday life.
