For professional chainsaw operators working in forestry and arboriculture the industry recommendation is that for ’high risk ‘activities (paragraph 137 PUWER ACOP) the minimum level of adequacy of training is to a certificate of competence or nationally recognised qualification where assessment is carried out independently of the training. This includes when using a chainsaw to cut or trim tree limbs when standing in a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP)
Tuppco proudly delivers on-site training courses across a wide region of the South and Central UK. From Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire to Reading, Oxford, and Swindon, our team provides expert, accredited instruction at your workplace using your own equipment. We specialise in NPORS plant training, Lantra land-based and machinery courses, and Qualsafe first aid and health & safety training. Businesses across Berkshire, the Cotswolds, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Buckinghamshire, Cheltenham, and Northamptonshire rely on Tuppco for flexible, professional training solutions that minimise downtime and maximise compliance.
The purpose of the Chainsaw from a MEWP Level 3 course with TUPPCO Training is to ensure that operators can carry out safe, controlled, and efficient aerial cutting operations using a chainsaw from within a MEWP, following all legal and industry standards.
By the end of the course, learners will be fully competent to perform aerial cutting operations safely and professionally using a chainsaw from a MEWP.
Upon successful completion of the Chainsaw from a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) – Level 3 course with TUPPCO Training, learners will receive a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification. This award confirms that operators are competent to carry out aerial cutting operations using a chainsaw from within a MEWP, in accordance with industry safety standards and arboricultural best practice.
This qualification is ideal for experienced arborists, tree surgeons, forestry workers, and professional contractors who perform aerial cutting, pruning, deadwood removal, or dismantling operations from a MEWP.
The Chainsaw from a MEWP – Level 3 course with TUPPCO Training typically takes 1 to 2 days, depending on learner experience, MEWP type, and operational requirements.
Total training time: 1–2 days
Includes: safety theory, chainsaw operation, MEWP positioning, and practical cutting exercises
